Saving Lives Starts with the Basics

All new members of SAEMS must complete onboarding and pass training evaluations before responding solo to calls.

🩺 Phase 1 – Basic Academy:

• Department protocols and SOPs
  
  

• Scene safety and situational awareness
  
  

• CPR, bleeding control, trauma assessment
  
  

• Basic patient transport and handoff procedures
  
  

📻 Phase 2 – Field Training:

• Ride-alongs with certified EMS FTOs
  
  

• Live 911 call exposure with roleplay coaching
  
  

• Practice report writing and radio usage
  
  

📝 Phase 3 – Evaluation & Approval:

• Final written quiz (multiple choice + scenario)
  
  

• Scene command walkthrough
  
  

• Approval by Captain or higher
  
  

Graduates become full EMTs or Paramedics, depending on their experience and performance.
