The BCSO Ride-Along Program gives civilians and potential recruits the chance to experience a day in the life of a deputy. Whether you're considering joining the department or just want to better understand law enforcement operations, this program offers a front-row seat to real patrol duties.
👥 Who Can Participate?
Civilians with no active warrants or criminal history
BCSO Applicants pending acceptance or training
Media team members (pre-approved)
Government officials or agency partners
Note: All participants must be approved by a supervisor or higher and agree to the ride-along terms.
🚨 What You'll Experience
During your ride-along, you'll be paired with an active-duty BCSO deputy. You may observe:
Traffic stops
911 call responses
Foot pursuits
Arrests and citations
Investigations and civilian interactions
City and rural patrol zones
You’ll be required to follow all instructions, stay in the vehicle unless told otherwise, and not interfere with active situations.
📋 Rules & Waiver
Before participating, all riders must:
Read and sign the BCSO Ride-Along Waiver in the Emergency Services Discord
Dress appropriately (no shorts, tank tops, or offensive logos)
Follow radio silence rules
Keep all info from ride-along confidential
Remain respectful and non-disruptive during incidents
Failure to follow the rules will result in immediate termination of the ride-along and potential blacklist from future programs.

Interested in doing a ride-along? Follow these steps:
Go to the "Join a department" page
Join the emergency services discord
Submit an application and specify “Civilian Ride-Along”
Wait for approval from BCSO Command
Once approved, you’ll be scheduled with an available deputy
❗Important Notes
This is a one-time or limited-use program unless granted special permission.
Ride-alongs do not give you powers of arrest, authority, or access to restricted info.
Deputies may end the ride-along at any time if they feel safety or RP quality is compromised.
